Jacob AppelJacob M. Appel is currently an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Medical Education at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine, where he is Director of Ethics Education in Psychiatry.  He is also the author of four literary novels, ten short story collections, an essay collection, a cozy mystery, a thriller, a volume of poems and a compendium of medical dilemmas. Prior to joining the faculty at Mount Sinai, Jacob taught most recently at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.  More at www.jacobmappel.com.

 
Rene HewittRenée Hewitt has been performing for over 30 years.  Most of that experience was in the San Francisco Bay Area in such theaters and venues as American Music Theatre, San Jose Stage and the Great America Theme Park.  She’s done voiceover work for radio, tv and video games.  Since arriving with her family to Southern Oregon 19 years ago, she’s performed such roles as:  Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker, Aldonza in Man Of La Mancha, Guenevere in Camelot, Kate in Dancing at Lughnasa, Ouiser in Steel Magnolias and Rona Lisa Piretti in The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee, to name just a few.
