Send us your work.
We’re excited to plan our upcoming 2017-18 season and are currently reading submissions; if you’ve submitted a story and haven’t yet heard back, we haven’t forgotten you! Thanks for your patience.
Writers: Stories on Stage Davis invites submissions year-round of short stories or standalone novel excerpts of between 1500 and 4000 words. We’re also accepting submissions of stories 1500 words or less to be featured at our special flash-fiction themed evening on February 10, 2018, featuring Grant Faulkner, co-founder of the magazine 100 Word Story and executive director of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). We’ll be selecting two flash pieces—send us your best work! (If you’re looking for information on our annual fiction contest for UC Davis students, click here.)
Manuscripts must be double-spaced, in minimum 12-point type, and uploaded as Word docs or PDFs. Please submit only one manuscript at a time; please don’t submit an entire novel and ask us to find an excerpt.
We give preference to authors living in Davis and surrounding areas, but are happy to look at great writing from anywhere, as long as authors are willing and able to attend our event.
We read submissions anonymously; please do not include your name on your manuscript.
Actors: Stories on Stage Davis is also accepting written resumes or video links from actors who are interested in reading and interpreting written works. Again, we give preference to local talent.
Actors and writers will receive an honorarium for their work.
